transform how you move, breathe, and believe

Howdy

I offer a space for pause and deep practice, where serious yoga meets compassionate support, allowing you to access your most subtle self and live from that place with courage.

Therapeutic yoga integrates mindful movement with wakeful alignment principles, helping develop body awareness while addressing both physical limitations and stress patterns. My approach combines traditional yoga philosophy with practical applications for daily living, creating sustainable movement practices that support mental, physical and spiritual healing.

My best work is done in small groups or private one on one yoga.

This is yoga for real people seeking serious transformation—ancient practices brought forward through long lineages, adapted to meet you exactly where you are in your healing journey.

  • student stories

Serena's yoga classes have been an enjoyable and critical part of my week for the last 2 years. By incorporating both mind and body into her practice, her classes have left me strengthened, stretched, and grounded. Serena has helped teach me how to bring this strength and grounding into my everyday life experiences.

Serena has a calming and encouraging demeanor, and a deep comprehension of how the muscular and skeletal systems work. No two classes of hers are the same, and she is expert at constantly helping her students improve their poses and practice throughout the class, no matter their yoga level or experience.

  • kind words

Serena embodies the perfect balance of yin and yang energy, offering both nurturing support and gentle encouragement when needed. Her voice and words create a grounding presence that I find deeply comforting. She provides a peaceful space for self-discovery, infused with acceptance and humor—exactly what I need when moving into a challenging pose or experiencing those small yet significant moments of internal joy.

She offers all of this with the understanding that some days we simply laugh and honor these bodies of ours, accepting how our energy flows naturally, as co-conspirators in this beautiful practice.

  • community connection

What I love most about Serena's classes is how thoughtfully she prepares each one. Every class has a unique theme that connects our physical practice to yoga philosophy. She guides us through poses and breathing with such care, always helping us understand the deeper meaning behind what we're doing. Her calm energy is infectious, and she sends us off with beautiful mantras. I leave feeling aligned, grounded, and ready to bring that peaceful energy into my daily life. Honestly, my yoga experiences are my greatest source of well-being.

  • yoga and transformation

I found Serena's yoga class during one of the most stressful times of my life, and it became my lifeline. Her calm presence and gentle humor were exactly what I needed. She taught me about letting go and finding peace, which was transformational during such a dark period. I'd often cry during savasana - not from sadness, but from finally releasing all that built-up tension. Her classes planted seeds of hope that I desperately needed. The timing couldn't have been more perfect.

  • after 50 years

I was introduced to yoga fifty years ago; many teachers and classes over the years since then. I can honestly say that Serena Jowaisas is special in my opinion.  She stands out because of her extensive knowledge and sharing heart, which fosters her ability to create intuitive flows.  Her classes incorporate mind, body, spirit connection as an offering without judgement.  They are both gentle and strong.  I feel better after doing yoga with Serena and always look forward to the next class.

My Embodied Mission

My journey with yoga began with a search for physical well-being, but it quickly revealed a profound truth: we are whole beings, impossible to separate into distinct parts. As my body found health through yoga, my mind and emotions followed suit, creating a ripple effect that transformed my entire life.

Yoga is a practice for everyone. If you can breathe, you can practice yoga. At its core, yoga is an ancient health care system that guides us towards greater vitality, awareness, and freedom. We are microcosms of the larger world, and when we care for ourselves wholly, we become more capable of contributing wholeheartedly to our communities and the world at large.

The vastness of yoga - its tools, perspectives, techniques, and understandings - could fill many lifetimes of study. This is why I consider myself, first and foremost, a perpetual student of yoga. My sincere dedication to this path has naturally led me to share what I've learned and what has helped me. Through private yoga sessions, I aim to guide others deep into their practice, unlocking the transformative power of yoga in their lives.

We are embodied beings, and our ability to navigate life's stresses and struggles improves dramatically when we care for our physical selves. The body serves as a gateway to nurturing our minds and emotions. We all harbor dreams of who we want to be, what we want to do, and the life we aspire to live. Yet, obstacles arise - sometimes internal, like our self-perception, and sometimes external, due to circumstances beyond our control. Our bodies can anchor us in reality, helping us become the person we want to be in the world. Through yoga, we can cultivate a safe inner space from which we can make clear, sound, and helpful decisions.

My mission is to embody - to fully inhabit this present moment with clarity and wonder. To explore what's possible for myself, for you, and for all beings. And then, to take action.

Through yoga, we learn to care for our whole selves, unlocking our potential to live authentically and contribute positively to the world around us. Join me on this journey of embodiment, self-discovery, and transformation. Let's breathe, move, and grow together, one mindful moment at a time
