Frequently Asked Questions
How effective is online yoga compared to in-person sessions? Often we can accomplish astounding success with online private yoga lessons. As with anything, we need to allow for the proper amount of time and attention to learn and practice the techniques. Everyone’s journey will be different. However, even after the first session, people often find relief.
What equipment do I need for online yoga sessions? You will need a space large enough for a yoga mat, with some space to the sides to stretch your arms, and a yoga mat. We can begin with minimal props, however, most people find two yoga blocks, a bolster, a strap and a blanket to be very enjoyable and helpful.
How often should I schedule sessions? One session a week is minimum, with time for practice in between. Two sessions a week is really great.
Can online yoga help with specific health issues? I am not a registered health care professional. However, there is growing evidence that yoga is helpful for many health issues. If you are curious about what the science says (Click here)
What if I'm a complete beginner to yoga? You have found the perfect place to start! You will learn quickly the profound benefits of yoga when the practice is tailored to your own specific concerns.
How do you ensure proper alignment and form in online sessions? I love alignment. I love precise alignment. Through our time together online, you will also become an expert in alignment. This is one of the ways that we cultivate mindfulness (one of yoga most healing aspects). We explore alignment through carefully curated explorations of the poses. The poses become our teacher! As well, I can see you on the video and can give feedback that way as well.
Can I change the duration or frequency of sessions as I progress? Yes. Often times in the beginning an hour commitment is great. As you progress you will be surprised at how ling you want to practice for.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session? I ask that you give me 24 hours notice to not be charged for the session. Giving more time in advance for a cancellation is helpful to me.
How do you maintain a personal connection in an online format? We will spend time together in the first part of the session checking in. Then I ask you to turn your sound off and we enter into the practice. At the end you will return to sound on and we will reflect on the practice. I find this to be a deeply connecting space, and nurturing all the ways we are curious about the practice.
Can I combine yoga with health coaching in these sessions? Yes. These sessions are health coaching. The best of health coaching is the way that we find space and clarity about who we are, what we want, and what we will do to get there. In our conversational time together, this is what we will be talking about. Where are you going, what do you want, how will you get there? The physical movement part of practice supports the answers to these questions.
